Jude Dennis is a London based designing//making artist fascinated by the traditions, techniques and materials of upholstery.
Interested in the tensions between uniformity//individuality, institutionalisation and the establishment her work incorporates strong conceptual narratives with her love of process and hand skills.
This idiosyncratic approach to upholstery asks questions of the craft and the fine line it traverses between art, craft, design and manufacturing.
In 1997 Jude graduated with a degree in Crafts from Manchester Metropolitan University then worked predominately within the art departments of the creative industries of film, television, theatre, fashion and events - prop making and designing, building and dressing sets. In 2007 Jude gained her city and guilds in modern and traditional upholstery, winning several industry awards for her forward thinking approach to upholstery design and setting her on a new creative path.
